It's a client-side innovation and it works amazingly well. It consists of two plugins for your tribe.net. These filters are installed in your mind;

• the first set stops you from knee-jerking so fast that your fingers type "troll" faster than your brain can supply "is what I become when I whine this way and call people hurtful names".

• the second set actually *turns your eyes* away from text that you find objectionable on that deep gut-ego level.

Try it out! PM me for FAQs / tech support for these helpful plugins.

Ignoring works very well against trolls.

It is only marginally effective against stalkers with OCD.

Look at all these stalkers who stalk celebrities, for example. Are the celebrities to blame? Do they encourage the stalkers? No? Do they try to ignore the stalkers? Yes. Does that stop the stalkers from camping outside their homes and shooting them when they walk out? No?

Was John Lennon to blame for Mark David Chapman's obessions and delusions? Was it Lennon's fault that Chapman murdered him? The guy was a stalker. But the way you folks think, it was Lennon's fault. He should have tried harder to ignore Chapman!

How can you tell the trolls from the stalkers?

Trolls are here for entertainment. Stalkers want something more, they want somethng in real life out of this. When they don't get it, they start making real life threats and trying to cause real life harm. You know who I am talking about.

Behold, my stalkers are constantly making threats of the things they'll do to me, and some of these same stalkers have tried to blackmail other people on tribe with the personal information they gathered.

All I do is try to get a laugh.

If you can't tell the difference, you are a loser. Loser's sympathize with the stalkers, because the trolls make the losers feel inferior and the losers can relate to the miserable real life failures of the stalkers.
    • something seems to be wrong with your widget; hm.

Reinstall and restart and see if that fixes it.

      >>If you can't tell the difference, you are a loser.<<

Well at least your "sad widdle attempt" widget seems functional.

OOOOH TRUE is gonna GET yoooooou ~

sorry if I have a hard time feeling all *that* sorry for you, hoss. You've made quite the little career out of being a mid-shelf troll and a low-shelf wit ... and it's really not like you ever made an effort to *ignore* the people you provoked into making a target out of you, huh?
Hahahaa - AND you're the big celeb, in the analogies you make? pardon must guffaw boomingly.

Just a thought, here - no judgment in the brainstorm, right? - but:

This bed looks an awful lot like one you made; try sleeping in it, tough guy. Having been accused by you of stalking you in the past, I find your protestations now nothing more than the puling of a typical net-whiner.

In the parlance of the Tomorrow People: Epic Fail, sot. Try taking some simple advice for a change, or, tacitly admit you still love TRUE &al most tenderly.

If Loki's words were spoken by some neutral observer, it might have hurt my feelings/ But coming from Loki, well, he's just off his rocker half the time.

Also, you entirely miss the point if you think I am seeking sympathy. I seek none whatsoever. I am a big target for all comers and challengers. There's not a day that goes by on tribe that some new troll or other internet weirdo doesn't take up the cause and try to challenge me. If I could not handle that and needed your sympathy, would I still be doing it after all these years?

No, the point of my post was not to solicit sympathy but rather to distinguish between trolls who merely make fun and play games here on tribe and stalkers, OCDs, bullies, and other malicious types whose purpose is to cause actual real life harm, or at least to scare people with threats of actual real life harm.

If what you do is send people personal messages telling them you can or are going to harm them, you maybe a loser.

If what you do is befriend people to gain personal information, then disclose it in public in order to embarass them or blackmail them, you may be a loser.

Sympathy? You think I want your sympathy, Loki? I think you are projecting, again.

I don't want sympathy. I'm just trying to raise public awareness.

Tribe.net is a dangerous place. Some of the most popular people here (in terms of friend count) and most active members are very malicious people who do seek to cause you harm or embarassment in real life.

You make friends here at your own risk.

I think it is just one notch above Craigslist in terms of being seedy and dangerous.
