hi tribe....
Ok, so this is the place to make a few suggestions for improving tribe?
Well here’s my tuppence worth…
1) Babble..( news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/techn...204842.stm) when is anything going to be done about pointless posts that have no meaning? By that I mean one liners or single words that communicate what the poster is currently doing (i.e. eating a sandwich), make no sense whatsoever or convey their approval/disapproval of another post without actually qualifying it…. In general a post of less than ten words is almost certainly going to be babble…and once a thread becomes little more than a list of whoopps and yahs it kills discussion…. is it not possible to add a feature to the submit button that counts the words and denies the post on the grounds of insufficient content? It cant be that difficult since many of the old chat/date sites (I don’t use them anymore.. resigned to being single..ahh) used to prevent one from joining unless some personal data was entered.
2) Verbal Diarrhoea… yes thos excessive posts that have more in common with PhD dissertations than a meaningful contribution to a discussion. The ones that are invariably the product of a paste and copy exercise from a web site (plagiarism) than the diligent fruits of the literaturist burning the midnight oil … in this respect just as a minimum word count would go a long way to stopping babble so a maximum (lets say 1000 words) would stop what amounts to political filibustering or lawyers bundles but best described as verbal diarrhoea.
3) So you agree do you? Well then why do we have to find out through endless babble saying ‘right on’, too true… can you at tribe not add a recommend button (i.e. like the bbc’s have your say newsforums.bbc.co.uk/nol/thread.jspa or a thumbs up/thumbs down button like youtube www.youtube.com/comment_servlet such a feature would allow tribe members to voice a view anonymously, a particularly useful feature where a discussion has become polarized and offensive and anonymity would prevent a person from subsequently being labelled or attacked just for having a different opinion (some people are shy but that shouldn’t be just cause to silence them)
Getting rid of babble, verbal diarrhoea and adding a feature that encourage members to participate without actually posting would I aver greatly increase inclusion and make for far better posts and threads
Anyway I just spotted someone trying to cross my bridge so I gotta go and throw them off .. a trolls work is never done….

If you take a look around Tribe, there isn't a whole lot of participation of any kind going on. In fact, it often appears that the only actual posting going on is by those of us sock puppets who like to stir the pot, and the ensuing conflicts that arise out of stirring the pot.
Is there something redeeming going on over at facebook that is more compelling, or is yet another voyeur fest like here?

actually I have taken a look arround and what I see is an abscence of participation with the notable exception of posts and admissions like yours... chiefly sock puppets hell bent on stirring the pot, a tactic that will ensure that tribe is ultimately confined to room 101..
it is without a doubt a great shame.. tribe was once a good site.. good discussions which informed and entertained but now like some incontinent generatric everything is covered in shit and stinks of stale urine....
so sadly I am tottally fed up .. bored to death of the pathetic, childish and pointless posts that now proliferate and are some how passed off as fair comment. As with the many others who once enjoyed and engaged in tribe I have finally come to the conclusion that it is beyond salvation... doing little more than rolling in its own excrement, a position that it appears many seem to realish...

But I value these relationships too. Because they are based on shared interests and true, honest and genuine sentiment. What you see as pathetic won't change these facts. YOU are the one dimensional TROLL whether you are aware of it or not. And your reflection on values and society and specific individuals such as myself is clarification for pretty much any halfway conscientious person.

In reply, I am very intentional in my efforts in stirring the pot and in my trolling:
I have the same frustrations as Greenman as there are any number of pedestrians like yourself on the internet who either don't communicate or are halfwits, and are consumed with the wrong things IMO. I se the lack of reflection and the lack of the ability to communicate anything of meaning or substance of great concern. Sure, Tribe will very likely die on account of its users inability to have a discussion about anything - it doesn't generate ads with any content and therefore no revenue. Of more concern to me - since I do not invest the the time and energy that you do in virtual distrations - is that the same sort of lack of meaningful discourse is occurring in this society. I have this sort of hell-bent concern for our collective well-being actually, and I think we're heading for even darker times ahead unless we begin addresssing some issues. I therefore choose to be very provocative for a reason.
At any rate you silly queen, have you thought of hooking up with Travis? You both engage in the same behavior on Tribe and both appear to like eating shit. Do you think you could find true love with Travis? Are you a Scorpio too?
